Fancy Joining our Family of Festival Volunteers?

Whether you are a student looking for a placement to gain experience or someone who enjoys supporting and being part of something special, we have an opportunity for you!

Our Festival Family is made up of some of the most lovely, creative and passionate people - creators, doers, and people who enjoy making good stuff happen. Without our volunteers we just couldn’t make our dreams for the Festival a reality.

The 2016 festival will take place between 30th April and 8th May, and volunteer opportunities will run between now and then. Come join us and help us inspire wonder and curiosity through transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Architect Makers & Designers

Once again we are inviting art, design and architecture students to contribute to the design and creation of the elements that dress the festival site.

We create an environment that inspires wonder and curiosity, a space where festival-goers young and old are transported out of their day to day lives into somewhere quite extraordinary. We work with small teams of students, to design and create stages, spaces, costumes, props and installations. All of which transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

We will be looking for this team to design and make:

  • Pop-Up stages around the site and the town
  • Spaces within the gardens for reading, relaxation and contemplation or for meeting friends old and new
  • Installations that draw attention to the natural beauty of the site
  • Signage that engages and inspires
  • Stages, costumes and installations for the family area inspired by this years themes: Peter Rabbit for tiny tots and Roald Dahl for families.

This is a great opportunity to apply your studies to a real world situation. You will become an essential part of a professional team with a responsibility to work to a brief and a budget and the chance to see your work realised on a large scale.

The design and making process begins mid January. We are flexible with time in order to work around your studies and would work with you on establishing a timetable if your application for this placement were successful.

Creative Team

Those of you who know our festival will recognise our passion for creating beautiful and often quirky installations that enhance the natural beauty of the site. In the months leading up to the festival we meet for coffee, conversation and cake and together make miles of bunting, book birds, installations, lanterns and outdoor chandeliers. Ideally we would like people to be able to commit to a minimum of half a day a week.

Essential Dates

Installation takes place in the week running up to the festival and it is essential that you would be available between the 24th & 29th April. The days will be filled with setting up the site and in the evening there will be training sessions, a couple of fun socials and the chance to get to know the other volunteers.

To apply, please fill in the form below. Deadline 15th January.
