Our summer internships provide fantastic opportunities to be involved in delivering our Award Winning Festival and to take part in the behind the scenes activities that enable the festival to happen.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see some great events, meet poets, authors, speakers and performers and work with our experienced team. Every year, the festival creates an amazing buzz around town and you can be part of it.
My experience with Wise Words helped me become independent and gave me great confidence. I networked with all kinds of people, including writers who I admired, and it opened up a wealth of further experience. I now work for Penguin Random House and believe my experience with Wise Words helped me stand out in the interview - it was unusual and people wanted to hear about it. It certainly was not another coffee-making, photocopying, office-based internship - I got stuck in, I felt I added something to the festival. I helped make it happen. Bex Dawkins
Opportunities for Summer 2014
*New opportunity for UCA STUDENTS!*
We are looking for enthusiastic students from the University of Creative Arts (Canterbury) to take part in creating, designing and making a number of installations that will appear across the city during the Wise Words Festival as part of a project developed in partnership with the UCA.
Our festival likes to encourage people to pause, reflect and connect to that which surrounds around them, using beautiful images and original installations to inspire passing minds.
To help us do this we are ideally looking for students from Architecture, Interior Design, Visual Arts and Creative Writing however if you are from another department yet still interested in getting involved, and feel you have similar skills to offer, please do still get in touch.
You will be working alongside professional artists as well as like-minded designers and makers which will provide the chance for you to develop collaborative relationships and widen your artist network. This opportunity will also offer valuable experience to add to your CV and Portfolio as it provides a chance to showcase your work in a professional context, as part of an award-winning festival. This is a voluntary opportunity but we will cover costs and all those involved will receive a Festival Pass .
Your involvement could be as regular as two days a week or as little as participating in one day’s making, depending on how much time you feel you would like to give between now and the festival (12th-21st September). Just let us know and we are happy to be flexible!
If this sounds of interest to you please email [email protected] by Monday 18th August expressing:
- What course you are studying on and what year you are in
- Why this opportunity is of interest to you
- What level of involvement you would like to have (amount of hours/days a week)
- If possible please also include examples of your work.
Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you!
