Hello all,

I’m very excited to be this year’s Wise Words blogger. I’ve been an avid reader from the moment I laid my hands on my first book all the way through to my degree in English and American Literature (at the University of Kent of course), my travels through Spain and beyond. I have always held East Kent dear to my heart and found myself endlessly enchanted by its majesty- from Margate to Whitstable, Faversham to Folkestone and Herne Bay to the central hub of Canterbury, a city renowned for its village feel.

Inspiring generations of creatives, East Kent has yet always tentatively danced on the cusp of magnificence, never quite achieving the recognition it deserves. But those who pass through our streets cannot fail to detect the heavy whiff of immense promise and, slowly but surely, independent projects and businesses are on the rise showing an eagerness to invest in the power that Kent so tenaciously and passionately continues to build within its community.

The Wise Words Festival is a fine example of this feeling; of kindred spirits who have collaborated to create something unique to celebrate East Kent’s glowing spirit and love of literature.

Over the coming weeks, I hope to report to you on the characters responsible for the project and about the contributing artists involved. It’s an exciting time here in Canterbury and I’ll be spreading the message of the wise word. Do join me, won’t you?
