Wise Words is a programme of events, workshops and performances that takes place in Canterbury across the year.
Through stories we share our experiences, learn from our past and imagine our future. They encourage empathy, offer new perspectives, develop imaginations, help make sense of the world and reawaken wonder and encourage curiosity.
The team behind Wise Words are passionate about stories – the stories that capture people’s aspirations, their passions and their experiences of life. Many wonderful tales are captured within books but stories can and should of course also be enjoyed through song, dance, theatre and poetry.
The stories that inspire our team are those waiting to be discovered in everyday experiences, those that encourage us to see the world from a different perspective and to take a moment out of our busy lives to pause and re-see and reconnect with the world and people around us.
Our work takes place mainly within the public realm and often outdoors so that we are able to welcome the widest possible audience.
We are a very small team supported by wonderful Volunteers our Advisory Board, our Patron, a family of artists and our funders.
