The competition is open to emerging poets between the ages of 18-30 living and working in Kent.
We would provide the artist with a minimum of 5 press-standard photos
The two professional films would be a maximum of 3 mins
Ideally the monthly mentoring sessions offered by Wise Words would take place in Canterbury but if the winner lived further afield we could offer these through email and skype.
The winner will get first refusal to attend any Masterclass that Apples and Snakes runs in the South East but will have to pay for their own transport to and from the workshops.
Writing Room 2017 should start up after April but is dependent on securing funds. If not we will sort out something similar. Artist must pay for own transport to and from the workshops.
The guaranteed slot to perform at Jawdance would be an open mic slot leading to the possibility of a short feature slot towards the end of the winners tenure. If the poet would like to attend just as an audience member, we will reserve them a seat if we are given notice. Transport will not be paid.
The winner will be offered a comp tickets to Apples and Snakes London events that have comp tickets. Transport will not paid.
The guaranteed paid slot at an Apples and Snakes South East event would be a minimum of 15 minutes and would include a fee, travel and accommodation (if needed). This would take place later in the tenure (2nd half of 2017).
This competition is not open to employees of Workers of Art or Apples and Snakes.
